Gilman, Illinois, is located approximately 90 miles south of Chicago (in Iroquois County) with a population of approximately 1,900 residents. We are proud of our long history, the fine schools that educate our children, and the many businesses, organizations, and churches that are part of our community. Cargill AgHorizons (one of two elevators) stands as the tallest site in town and has the ability to house over 8 million bushels of corn or soybeans at any one time. Other businesses include several restaurants, three hotels, five gas stations, a grocery store, and a drug store. Our community is proud to have a local newspaper, three antique shops, several real estate and insurance businesses, and a video store. An industrial park has been developed and is waiting to have businesses move into its facilities. The industrial park is located in the southwest part of town with easy access to the Illinois Central and TP & W railroads. Interstate 57 and US 24/45 intersect near the industrial park. Grow Gilman is a planning committee that meets monthly to discuss how the City of Gilman can attract new businesses into our community. Their goal is to promote Gilman so that our city will continue its economic growth and become a place where families want to relocate.
