Back to Grow Gilman

Grow Gilman Charter

In early 2007, a series of open public meetings were held to discuss Gilman’s future and economic development.  The University of Illinois Extension facilitated these meetings.  The result was a Strategic Vision Plan outlining objectives for Gilman in a variety of areas (economic development, quality of life, etc.).  Multiple initiatives were defined under each objective.   The Strategic Vision Plan effort was named Grow Gilman.

The Grow Gilman committee was established following the public meetings.  The committee provides a forum for multiple groups to collaborate on actions that support key objectives defined in the Grow Gilman Strategic Vision Plan.  The committee meetings give each member group an opportunity to share ideas and communicate regarding ongoing initiatives within the community.  The committee is responsible for revision of the plan as necessary.

The Grow Gilman committee is composed of at least one representative from each of the key organizations with interest and responsibility for Gilman’s development.  This includes the Gilman City Council, the Gilman Chamber of Commerce, the Iroquois West School District, the Iroquois County Board, and the Gilman-Danforth Library.  Additional organizations are welcome to join.

A copy of the Grow Gilman Strategic Vision Plan is available for review at the Gilman-Danforth Library.
